Sunny and Connor’s summer wedding at Westerham Golf Club in Kent was a joyful, heartfelt celebration filled with love, laughter and meaningful traditions. Taking place on the 15th of August, their wedding perfectly reflected the feeling they hoped to create — natural, fun and joyful from start to finish.
As a Kent wedding photographer, it was a privilege to capture such a beautifully personal day at one of the area’s most scenic wedding venues.

Bridal Prep at The George & The Dragon, Westerham
The morning began with Sunny getting ready at The George & The Dragon in Westerham, a charming and relaxed setting for bridal preparations. When I arrived, Sunny’s hair had already been styled beautifully and she was just finishing her makeup. The room was quiet and calm — a moment of peaceful solitude before the celebrations began. Sunny must be the calmest bride I have ever seen.

Soon after, Sunny’s sisters joined her to help with the final touches. The atmosphere quickly filled with excitement, laughter and emotion as Sunny stepped into her dress. A touching first look with her parents followed, full of proud smiles and happy tears, before we made our way to Westerham Golf Club for the ceremony.

A Joyful Ceremony at Westerham Golf Club
Ahead of Sunny’s arrival, I went into the venue to find Connor waiting nervously. You could feel the anticipation building as guests took their seats and the moment finally arrived.

The ceremony itself flew by in a blur of emotion. Sunny and Connor exchanged personal vows, surrounded by smiles and laughter, making it a truly heartfelt wedding ceremony.

After being pronounced married, they were greeted with a joyful confetti exit outside the club, followed by relaxed family wedding photographs at the front of the venue.

A Traditional Buddhist Wedding Ceremony
Following the ceremony, Sunny changed into a stunning saree for their Buddhist wedding ceremony, adding a deeply meaningful cultural element to the day.

Sunny and Connor’s Buddhist ceremony was rich in symbolism and tradition. They stepped onto the poruwa, marking their entrance into married life, before offering betel leaves to their elders as a sign of respect and a request for blessings. Their little fingers were tied together with gold thread (pan wedeema) to symbolise unity, followed by the pouring of water (wasirak gasa gannawa), representing purity and the bond between earth and life. The ceremony continued with the exchange of gifts (deegawastha), including Connor gifting Sunny a gold necklace as a promise of care and protection, while their mothers presented kiribath and milk as symbols of love and prosperity. The fathers then led the couple away from the poruwa, before Sunny and Connor lit the oil lamp together, representing light, hope and prosperity in their new journey, and finally broke a coconut to drive away any negative influences from their future together.

Travel-Inspired Seating Plan & Wedding Speeches
Having travelled to many places together, Sunny and Connor used their shared adventures as inspiration for their seating plan. Instead of traditional table numbers, each table featured a destination they had visited, along with a photo of them there — a thoughtful and personal detail that guests loved.

After dinner, four wedding speeches took place, filled with heartfelt stories, humour and plenty of laughter, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere in the room.

Couples Portraits on the Golf Course
As the light softened, we headed out onto the Westerham Golf Club grounds for couples portraits. Travelling across the course in a golf buggy, Sunny and Connor embraced the moment, resulting in relaxed, fun and iconic wedding photographs against the beautiful Kent countryside.

Evening Reception, First Dance & Fireworks
Back with their guests, the cake cutting came around quickly, followed by Sunny and Connor’s first dance and a touching father-daughter dance. As night fell, the celebrations reached their peak with fireworks over the golf course, creating a magical end to the evening.

Sunny and Connor shared a quiet moment alone watching the fireworks before re-entering the venue through a sparkler walkway, surrounded by cheering guests — the perfect ending to a summer wedding at Westerham Golf Club.

Sunny and Connor’s wedding was a beautiful example of how meaningful details, thoughtful traditions and genuine emotion can come together to create an unforgettable day. If you’re planning a Westerham Golf Club wedding or are looking for a Kent wedding photographer to capture your day naturally and authentically, I’d love to hear from you.
