Laura & Joe’s wedding at the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich was a relaxed, emotional, and story-led celebration by the Thames. Both working in theatre on London’s West End, their day naturally reflected who they are – creative, thoughtful, and deeply connected to their people.

From a London theatre engagement session to a wedding filled with personal moments, small nods to the West End, and plenty of laughter, this was a day that balanced meaning with fun, and sentiment with celebration.

Morning Preparations at The Mitre, Greenwich

Laura got ready at The Mitre in Greenwich, just a short walk from the Trafalgar Tavern where both the ceremony and reception took place. The morning was calm and unhurried, with plenty of time to enjoy the build-up with her closest friends and family.

Natural light filled the room as Laura stepped into her dress, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Once ready, we jumped into a classic black London taxi and made the short journey to the venue – a small detail that felt very fitting for a London wedding.

A Personal Ceremony at the Trafalgar Tavern

Joe was waiting at the end of the aisle as Laura arrived, and it was clear how much the moment meant to both of them. Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, with a dramatic reading and a live song performed by close friends, one singing while the other played guitar.

With so many friends from the theatre world, the ceremony felt expressive without being overdone. There were tears, laughter, and a real sense of warmth throughout the room as Laura and Joe stood infront of their loved ones.

The Perfect Confetti Dip & Couple Portraits in Greenwich

After the ceremony, guests gathered outside the Trafalgar Tavern for confetti, followed by a celebratory dip that was met with cheers all round. We then moved back inside briefly for family photographs before heading out for couple portraits. Laura and Joe had a magician entertaining guests throughout the cocktail hour, such a good idea to keep guests happy whilst waiting for food.

Laura and Joe had chosen the Royal Naval College in Greenwich for their wedding portraits. The grand architecture and open spaces were the perfect backdrop, and Laura’s wish for a classic running shot came together beautifully. We spent around 25 minutes there before heading back, giving them plenty of time to enjoy drinks and conversation with their guests.

Magic, Speeches & a Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began with a magician performing a private trick just for Laura and Joe – a fun, unexpected moment that set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. Speeches followed from Laura’s dad, the best man, the maid of honour, and Joe.

Joe’s speech stood out for its warmth and storytelling, sharing memories from the early days of their relationship. Just when everyone thought the speeches were finished, Laura stood up with a long scroll in hand and delivered her own speech, bringing laughter and rounding off this part of the day perfectly.

An Iconic Cake & a Hell of a Party

As the evening began, guests moved into the Hawke and Howe Bar at the Trafalgar Tavern for drinks. It was here that Laura and Joe gave yet another nod to their careers by passing out Theatre inspired ice cream as wedding favours to their guests. Before the band started, Laura and Joe cut their cake – a heart-shaped design topped with Sylvanian Family figures, including one for their cat, which summed them up perfectly.

From the first dance onwards, the energy in the room was high. With live music, packed dance floor, and a cardboard cut out of their cat, the evening felt relaxed and joyful, exactly what Laura and Joe had hoped for.

Laura & Joe’s Trafalgar Tavern wedding was a brilliant example of how personal touches and a strong sense of place can shape a wedding day. It was a pleasure to document a celebration that felt honest, warm, and completely true to them.
